The Africa Gender and Media Initiative (GEM Trust) is a leading non-profit organization dedicated to advancing gender equality through research and action on women’s human rights. Originally serving as a research arm for the African Women and Child Feature Service (AWCFS), GEM TRUST evolved into an independent registered organization in 2008. It emerged from a demand for evidence-based programming in women’s human rights work in Kenya.
GEM TRUST supports women’s sexual autonomy and advocates for their informed and confidential decision-making in sexual and reproductive health.
GEM TRUST strives to eradicate all forms of discrimination and violence against women, recognizing it as a serious infringement on their fundamental rights and freedoms.
